One such drama that took Korea by storm has just wrapped up, and it’s effects will be felt in the months to come.
The Korea TV drama hit “My Name Is Kim Sam-soon (aka My Lovely Sam Soon)” is giving rise to a highly contagious condition identified as Sam-soon Syndrome that can empty entire streets of all signs of life and plunge sufferers into a topsy-turvy world where plain is beautiful and assertiveness does not put a woman beyond the pale. The show, which hit the airwaves on June 1, recorded nationwide viewer ratings of 30.5 percent (TNS Media Korea) in just four episodes. But on June 30, the program’s 10th episode recorded national viewer ratings of a staggering 41.7 percent.
When Kim Sam-soon burst on to South Korean television screens in June, the nation - well at least half of it - was agog.
In an entertainment landscape populated by perfectly groomed actresses suffering from gongju byong (princess disease), along came Korea’s answer to Bridget Jones - a chubby, recently dumped 30-year-old with a foul mouth and a penchant for baggy pyjama bottoms. To top it all off, her name is the Korean equivalent of Gertrude.
This seris is as sweet as pastry goodies. If you like characters with distinctive and interesting personalities, then this is the series for you. MBC’s new series “My Lovely Samsoon” will begin airing on June 1st, and inside there is an unique character named “Samsoon”. The genre for this drama is Romance Comedy.
The storyline is about a chubby normal girl named Kim Sam Soon (played by Kim Sun Ah) who just loves to eat food whenever she gets stressed out. As a 29 year old single woman, she is not pretty, not young and not too educated. However, she is strong, has a great passion in everyday life, and have the spirit to go forwards no matter what happens.

She is a 29-year-old single who has an average life. She didn’t go to college. She doesn’t have her own apartment or a car. She doesn’t have a boyfriend. Although she has baker’s license, she got fired last Christmas Eve. She is one of us.
